DISCOVER
THE FREEDOM
OF SONSHIP

Come on in.
There’s room at our table for you.

Canyon Pathways is a global community of men who are on a journey from the striving of servanthood to the rest and receiving of sonship.

We’ve discovered that midlife leadership is a canyon, and we need connection with other sons of the same Father to traverse it faithfully and arrive at greener pastures and quieter waters.

This is your invitation to join us.

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Romans 8:14

OUR STORY

Like most epic journeys, this one began with an unexpected encounter.

It wasn’t quite Moses at the burning bush or a surprise visit to the Shire by Gandalf. Just a humble, impromptu gathering, a few heartfelt confessions, and a nonchalant invitation. But it sparked a flame that’s now lit hearts—and campfires—around the world.

That, and the ever-present (if not always perceived) hand of the Father, of course.

After a screening of The Heart of Man film, a few college friends who hadn’t spent time together in decades sat in a living room and smiled and laughed more joyously than they had in years.

When one confessed the need for rest and spiritual renewal, and another offered his cabin as a place of respite, a seed was sown.

A year later, we held our first retreat in Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota (amazingly, on the same road but in someone else’s cabin than the one that was first offered…but that’s a story for another time).

We ate together, hiked together, rested together—and together discovered that to lead like fathers, we have to first live like sons.

In 2021, we got serious about inviting and investing in other men who hunger and thirst for the freedom of sonship, and with the help of some brilliant and anointed brothers around the country, crafted the contours of this community to prepare it for growth.

Coincidentally (ahem), that same year our founder summited Kilimanjaro, and caught a vision for personalized spiritual direction aiding many midlife leaders across their canyon to the summit of sonship (huge shout out to Charles for the inspo—best mountain guide we know).

The next year, we held retreats from coast to coast, and in November hosted men from nine countries in Greece, staying true to our ethos of going where we are invited.

A few months later we gathered outside of Nairobi, Kenya, and confirmed what we had previously only surmised: that men in midlife leadership across the globe were looking for exactly what Canyon Pathways was offering—not just a new experience, but renewed vision.

Fire pits, fantastic food, and phenomenal trails don’t hurt either, we learned.

And now, in 2024…well, we’re going to need your help writing this part of the story.

OUR MISSION

We invite and invest in men in midlife leadership

so they can live like sons and lead like fathers

OUR TEAM

We’re a diverse group of men from different backgrounds with different journeys (and different scars to show for it), all unified by the love of a Father who tells us that all that’s his is also ours…and that it’s fitting to celebrate newfound brothers (Luke 15:31-32).
